Election Preview: Pritzker vs. Bailey in the Illinois Governor’s Race

The elections for Illinois Governor will be taking place on Nov. 8, when Gov. JB Pritzker will go against Sen. Darren Bailey.

According the Illinois Primary Election Results, Bailey led the race for the Republican party, garnering 57.7% of the vote. Pritzker won the race for the Democratic party, garnering 91.8% of the votes.

Before becoming governor, Pritzker founded 1871, the non-profit small business incubator in Chicago. He was sworn in as the 43rd Governor of Illinois on Jan. 14, 2019.

Before joining the State Senate, Bailey served one term in the Illinois House as the Representative for the 109th District. Currently, Bailey represents the 55th District of Illinois in the State Senate.

While it’s not necessarily an indicator of the election outcome, here’s how the two candidates stack up in Google search over the past 9 1/2 months.

According to an analysis of Google search data of Pritzker and Bailey, the number of searches of both Pritzker a comfortable lead in search over the past 90 days compared to Bailey. However, both Pritzker and Bailey peaked during early October. This sudden rise in search numbers was likely due to their gubernatorial debate.
