From Jan. 1, 2021 to April 14, 2022 there have been 2,296 carjackings in Chicago. Jeep Grand Cherokees and Toyota Camrys have been targeted the most by carjackers, data show.
With 43 homicides in February, Chicago is on pace to break last year's homicide total, the most in a quarter of a century. Some blame lack of public trust in police.
So far, 413 crimes have occurred in Chicago's 31st Ward since the start of 2022. Theft and battery lead the list, but more violent crimes have been showing up on the police blotter.
